∎ Minimum of a bachelor's degree in accounting, auditing, finance, business administration, or related field and a recognized professional accounting, auditing, or business administration qualification.
∎ At least 5 year(s)
∎ Reporting: The accountant reports to and is directly supervised by the Finance Manager.
∎ Location of Assignment: This is a full-time position based in Dhaka, Bangladesh, with periodic travel required throughout the country.
∎ Contract Duration: 9-10 months from the date of joining and based on the availability of donor fund possibility of renewal.
∎ Asist FM to maintain project-wide accounts, process bank transfers and bank reconciliation report, maintain pretty cash inventory, bookkeeping and ledgers, and improve these as needed.
∎ Prepare various accounting transactions, e.g., payroll, grants payments, subcontractor and vendor payments, advances, travel claims, etc. for review by the FM and ensure correctness of disbursements and adherence to relevant staff rules, financial regulations, administrative instructions and practices.
∎ Assist FM in the processing payments to suppliers/subcontractors and vendors for goods and services and make sure that the procurement required documents are in place with the payment package.
∎ Assist FM maintain records of all transaction to prepare of monthly financial reports for Chemonics headquarter; Ensure employees time sheet prepared accordingly and reflect leave track record accordingly for payroll.
∎ Assist FM to prepare annual, quarterly, and monthly budgets and reforecasts for project operations expenses.
∎ Prepare and maintain necessary documentation and reporting, including VAT, AIT/GoB and BIDA and prepare monthly VAT report to USAID.
∎ Assist FM to conduct yearly audit for the project as well as liaison office.
∎ Assist to closely monitor and make all necessary efforts to reduce accounts receivable and accounts payable balances.
∎ Review petty cash transactions and prepare documentation for replenish petty cash regularly.
∎ Preform other duties as assigned by MD or DCOP
∎ Five years post-qualification experience as an auditor, accountant, or finance personnel with a recognized public or private firm or as an accountant with a reputable NGO, development contractor, or donor agency.
∎ Thorough knowledge and understanding of professional accounting principles, theories, practices, and terminology (private sector, governmental and non-profit) and an ability to understand accounting practices and procedures; to analyze data, narrative reports, and workload flow charts, etc.
∎ Satisfactory ability to communicate in written and oral English.
∎ Proficiency in Microsoft programs (i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and the ability to use various commercially available accounting software programs.
∎ Ability to work in a professional and cordial manner with staff, implementing and cooperating partners, and relevant NGOs and government agencies. Also, must be able to work independently with minimal supervision, to be able to accept and discharge substantial responsibilities, to prioritize work assignments, to meet deadlines, and to exercise professional judgment.
